The Fun Way To Go Crabbing

I learned how to crab from my grandfather, how to crab. Living in texas during the summers of my youth, he would take us to the gulf and we would catch 2 to 3 wash buckets of crabs. The day before we go to the market and buy packs of chicken kneck bones and refrigerate until morning.
We would wake up about 5am and be at the gulf by 545am. Taking string tying chicken on one end and tying the other end to the pier, we would lower about ten to twelve down in the water. Once we would see the string tighten and move around in the water we knew we had at least one or maybe even two crabs on line. Ever so slowly we would pull the sting up and scoop them up with a net. We repeated this process until we had two wash buckets full. We were back home by 830am.
By dinner time my grandmother would have gumbo using the crab we caught that morning.
